Does motor functioning mediate the relationship between executive functions and psychological well-being of atypically developing older adults?

Abstract The contribution of motor efficiency to the maintenance psychological well-being in cognitively impaired older individuals is still insufficiently examined. This investigation primarily intended evaluate whether muscular strength mediates relationship between different facets (i.e., personal satisfaction, emotional competence, coping), negative mood, and central executive through Clock-Drawing, Trail-Making (Part A), verbal fluency tests. Furthermore, impact cognitive decline on self-reported depression was explored, using handgrip (HGS) measure as a covariate. One hundred nineteen participants, 44 males 75 females, aged 63 years (M age = 77.7 years, SD 5.6 years), completed battery tests assessing functions, HGS, depression, well-being. Significant low moderate associations were found distinct well-being, depression.
